This Double-knotted Afghan Beljik quality 50/50 handmade rug with soft high quality Merino wool handknotted rug measures 400 x 300 cm (13'1" x 9'10" ft) and has a camel and golden tan field with black and deep navy motifs. It is a top-quality rug, new, and colored with vegetable dyes.
The pattern is an all-over repeat of geometric guls. Black diamond medallions sit in evenly spaced rows across the field, with small ivory and mustard flowers between them. Beljik designs commonly use Afghan tribal gul and medallion layouts. The border is made of several bands in black, burgundy red and cream. Ivory fringe is visible along the short edges. The pile looks low to medium with a soft sheen, and the vegetable dyes give the tan field some natural tonal variation.
We design this rug, and our production partner handcrafts it in Afghanistan.
