Wool textile art 244 x 168 cm from Afghanistan. Hand-knotted Mamluk style in deep burgundy red with ivory, gold, teal, sage, and muted blue accents. Dense pile. Fringe at one end. The field has repeated medallions and curved vine work. The border is busy and tight.
Revived by Afghan weavers — now woven in Ghazni and northern Afghanistan. Hand-knotted with fine knots, so both geometric and curved shapes can work in the same rug. This one reads darker in the center and a little lighter at the borders. It sits flat and feels dense under hand. Good on a desk-side floor, under a bench, by a shelf, or in a home office.
All photos are taken in natural sunlight.
