Antique wool rug 350 x 250 cm from Afghanistan. This hand-knotted Volayati area rug has a cream field, brick red medallions, navy borders, and a low dense pile. The pattern is tight and clear, and the size gives it real presence on the floor.
It is woven in the Ghazni region of Afghanistan. The layout is all-over medallion work with small floral and geometric details. Small asymmetries in the pattern are part of the weave, not defects. The wool has that firm, practical feel and is naturally moisture-repellent, so spot cleaning is straightforward. All photos are taken in natural sunlight.
