Round wool rug 305 x 205 cm from Afghanistan. Hand-knotted Beljik with a red field, dark navy geometric motifs, and a darker patterned border. No fringe is visible in the main image.
This is a dense rug. Beljik rugs use finer merino wool, so the knots sit tighter than normal. Double-knotting uses about 2× the wool by volume of a standard rug. The low pile is already tuned for floor use, and the wool has the usual Afghan handle — firm, not loose. Lapis is traditionally associated with wisdom, truth, and inner peace, and is believed to support throat and third eye work when used as a meditation focal point or altar stone.
All photos are taken in natural sunlight.
