Afghan Volayati area rug, 300 × 205 cm (9'10" × 6'9" ft), hand-knotted wool. The ground is warm tan with navy, ivory, sky blue, burgundy, and green borders. This one has a dense, low-to-medium pile and a firm feel underfoot.
It is a practical size for a dining table, a queen bed, or a hallway with steady foot traffic. Volayati pieces like this are everyday rugs — sturdy pile, neutral palette. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan with merino wool on a wool foundation. The weave is tight, around 40 knots per 10cm². Spot clean with wool-safe shampoo, and use a professional wash for deep cleaning. Afghan wool keeps some of its natural oils, so it has a bit of natural water resistance.
