Wool textile art 240 x 177 cm from Afghanistan. This Afghan Volayati area rug is hand-knotted in a rich blue field with cream, red, and navy medallions. It measures 240 × 177 cm, or 7'10" × 5'10" ft.
Woven in the Ghazni region of Afghanistan, this one has tighter knots than a standard village piece and a dense wool pile. The wool has the usual oil content, so it handles spills better than cotton and gets softer with use. Vacuum it regularly. Spot clean with wool-safe shampoo. For a deep clean, use a professional wash. With normal care, a rug like this can stay in service for decades.
