This wool rug from Afghanistan measures 204 x 156 cm, or 6'8" x 5'1" ft. It is hand-knotted in the Ghazni region of Afghanistan on a wool foundation. The pile is low and dense. The red field sits darker in the border, with ivory fringe and repeated medallion rows.
It's a double knotted 50/50 veave made with high-quality extremely soft to touch and durable handmade rug.
It is made for everyday use. The weave is a Persian knot, set by hand on traditional wooden looms in Ghazni. An area-sized rug like this usually takes 8-14 months of continuous weaving. The surface feels firm underfoot, not loose, and it lies flat once settled.
