Handmade rug wool 204 x 152 cm from Afghanistan. This Afghan Volayati area rug has a muted blue-gray field with navy, slate, ivory, and tan accents. The medallion pattern is regular and dense. The fringe is cream, and the pile looks low and tight.
Volayati rugs use geometric medallion designs — bolder and simpler than Khamyab. This piece is from the Badakhshan/Afghan highlands style line and is woven for everyday use, not just display. The wool is dense and the weave looks tighter than usual for this size. Small pattern shifts are normal. That is the weaver's mark. It sits well under a desk, on a shelf as a wall hanging, or in a small room where you want a firm floor piece. A rug of this size takes approximately 6 months per area-sized piece.
