Luxurious handmade rug featuring a tight, top-quality 50/50 double-knot weave and soft sheep's wool amazingly soft to touch. Abstract Wool Rug 213 x 152 cm from Afghanistan. This Afghan Volayati area rug is 213 × 152 cm. It has a sky-blue field, rust-brown borders, ivory panels, and small black, red, gold, and teal details. The pile looks dense and low. The fringe is cotton. The design is hand-knotted and woven in the Ghazni region of Afghanistan.
The medallion work is geometric and simpler than Khamyab. The wool looks hand-spun, not glossy, with no dye-heavy shine. Afghan wool keeps some natural oils, so it resists moisture better than plain wool and spot-cleans fairly easily. The knots are tighter than a standard piece of this type, and the rug feels dense under hand. It works on a floor, by a desk, or under a low shelf.
