This Afghan Volayati rug comes from the Ghazni region and uses a simpler geometric medallion layout, with a strong blue field, rust border, cream guards, and dark navy detail.
It's a double knotted 50/50 rug made of Natural high quality Afghan Ghazni wool which is silk-like soft and durable.
It measures 205 × 156 cm and is hand-knotted wool. The knot work is tighter than normal for this type — around 50/50 per 10cm² in parts, versus the usual 40. The pile feels dense under hand, not loose. I can see small abrash shifts in the blue, which is normal with plant and mineral dyes. The fringe is finished and the rug lies flat.
