Afghan Volayati area rug, 197 x 196 cm. Brown field with navy border, cream, gold, teal, black, and soft blue detail. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan, Badakhshan origin. Wool on wool foundation. Natural dye, untreated.
The knot style is Persian/asymmetric. Tight weave, denser than a typical piece this size. Around 40 knots per 10cm² is the usual Volayati range; This piece sits in the premium tier with tighter knots than normal. Takes approximately 6 months per area-sized piece on a wooden loom. Small asymmetries in the pattern are the weaver's mark, not defects. It works on the floor, under a desk, or on a low shelf as a display layer.
