This is a handmade Afghan rug, from the Northern region of Afghanistan. The material is 100% wool with an extremely strong foundation that was meant to keep the rug in excellent condition for decades (one of the traits of Afghan rugs). It is very easily washable and can be vacuumed regularly due to its solid foundation and is pet-friendly as well. Rugs like these are meant to last for a lifetime and with more use, the wool just gets softer, and therefore its value increasing as well(another common trait, but this time for all woolen handmade rugs).
This stunning hand-knotted geometric design Baluch rug is a high-quality very well-made extremely soft rug made with sheep wool on an extra wool foundation so it will last you a long time. The material commonly used in the Baluch rugs is wool. The piles normally consisted of wool though silk was sometimes added to make these rugs luxurious and expensive. In older pieces, the wraps were made of wool while the wefts were lighter in color. In the newer pieces, the wefts are a brownish tone.
Similar to most Persian rugs, these Baluch rugs are woven with asymmetrical knots. Each rug has a knot count of well above 150 knots per square inch. A normal area sized rugs can take up to ten months with four or five weavers working almost six hours every day.
